Can YOU do it?

September 29, 2007

10am-2pm

Detroit, Michigan

The Motor City Scramble is an urban adventure race that took place on Saturday, September 29, 2007 in downtown Detroit.  Teams of two “scrambled” to complete a series of mental and physical challenges found at secret locations throughout the downtown area.

The racers started off at Campus Martius Park where they were given their first challenge—a Double Dog Dare—eat some dog food (which was really only some Spam and beef gravy) or run three blocks out of their way to buy a coney dog.  Shockingly, most teams chose to gag down the “dog food” and were quickly rewarded with their next clue and the race was on!

They had to find the secret locations (or “Scramble Spots”) where the tasks need to be completed traveling only on foot or by Detroit People Mover… no other type of transportation was allowed.

Each Scramble Spot had different challenges that included playing video games, throwing balls for accuracy, building houses of cards, answering trivia questions and going on picture scavenger hunts!  Teams frantically used their mobile phones to call friends/family to get directions to Scramble Spots or for help with trivia questions — they even had to solicit the help of total strangers!

It was a great day for the racers and an even greater day for the city of Detroit!  Fun was had by all and we look forward to bringing you an even bigger and better Motor City Scramble in 2008!
